When he is not working, he enjoys getting involved in charitable causes, dedicating his time and his skills to a wide range of organisations: he is a contributor to the NSPCC, the Herts & Middx Wildlife Trust, the Childrens’ Safety Education as well as sponsoring a child through World Vision UK.

Surendran met Yogi Ashokananda through his wife Mala, and soon became aware of Yogi’s selfless work with the Sita Devi Charity School in Tamil Nadu and the endeavour to create a UK registered charitable organisation to further this and other community projects; this has encouraged him to get involved as one of the founding Trustees of the Foundation.
Other interests include reading, staying informed of current affairs, listening to music and practicing physical fitness.
